First of all, you need to know that this blog isn’t like all of the other “Do these 5 things and you will succeed.”
And here we go, anyways…
Do these 5 things, and you will succeed.
That’s what they all say.
I’ve been part of the network marketing field, in some way, over the past 13 years.
Before I continue, I want to be clear. This post isn’t about bashing network marketing. There are a couple of companies that I really love and enjoy. This post is about sharing some takeaways I have had over the past 13 years.
Let’s continue…
I’ve met with leaders.
I’ve gone to trainings.
I’ve done the zoom calls.
And they all say: Just do these things (fill-in-the-blank) and you will be successful.
And that may be all obvious and clear to some.
For some, that’s all they need to hear to get them in gear.
But, for some of us- even those five things are overwhelming and you can’t figure out how to make one a habit, let alone all 5.
So, people give up.
You can change the numbers, you can change the activities, the behaviors, and the habits.
But the one thing that they aren’t telling you, is to make it simple.
Start with one.
Look at your list.
What is one thing you can do right now. The one thing that sticks out at you. The “all of those other things seem overwhelming, but I could do this thing” thing.
Do that thing.
Make it a habit.
Don’t worry about anything else related to that thing.
Your very first job is to make that one thing a habit.
Did you forget to do that one thing?
Go back. Do it. Then, proceed with your day.
Your stretching your habit muscle. Creating muscle memory for your habit. Make it a habit first, and then you can start worrying about everything else related to that thing.
Then, when you’ve made that thing a habit, you’ve figured out how to make that thing work….
Add #2. Work. Play. Eat. Sleep. Repeat.
Got that one figured out?
Add #3, and so on.
Make it simple. Take it a day at a time. If your building something, it takes time. Don’t give up. Keep going. Day after day, creating habits, and adding a new one until you’re doing all 5 habits-every.day.
If things fall apart.
Reassess. Look at your 5 things. Do you need to keep those? Do you need to trade some out? Maybe you need a whole new list.
Do whatever you need to do to realign those 5 things to get to your new goal.
Now. Keep it simple. Start with one thing.
Sometimes, you may need to drop the ball. The whole list. You may need some time to do some character work. Or something else may come up. Life happens.
That’s fine.
Guess what you do?
You make a list of 5 things that are going to get you to your new goals. Because, when life happens, new goals come up. The big idea may stay the same, but the way to Beth there changes.
So, you re-write your “5 Things”.
Then what?
That’s right!
Start with one thing. And then, you build on.
Honestly, we could keep going, scenario after scenario.
But, I think you get the picture.
Some of you out there may be wondering, how do I even come up 5 things?
There’s one thing you need to do.
Set up a meeting with a mentor.
Don’t have one?
Find one.
There are so many people that have gone before you. Reach out to someone in your field.
To anxious?
You don’t even have to call/email/or text anyone:
There are books, podcasts, YouTube videos, and many other resources out there, until you get to place to you can reach out to a mentor.
Where ever you are in your journey. Take a deep breathe. Look up, and around. Make it simple. Do.one.thing.
And then, one day….one day, you will be doing all 5 things. All the while, paving the road to your success.
If you’re interested in resources, let me know in the comments. If there’s enough interest, I will work on creating a resources tab.
